Title: Doctors To Be
Author: Susan Spindler
Current page #: 35
Opinion thus far: Fascinating true-life account of medical students who enter medical school, the hurdles they go through, their perspectives, the endless exams with intricate detail involved, and the passing times they endure. Written from a BBC documentary.
Last book finished: The Medicine of ER or, How We Almost Die

QUOTE
Title: Lolita
Author: Vladimir Nabokov
Current page #: 100 something
Opinion thus far: BEAUTIFUL book. Don't be put off by the subject matter--it isn't pedophelic in any sense. Just beautiful, humorous, touching, etc.

I saw Stanley Kubrick's film of Lolita, and loved it. Its tragic nature feels Shakespearean.

Title: The Northern Lights (His Dark Materials)
Author: Philip Pullman
Current page number: 30+
Opinion: I was quite weary when I saw the length and size of the trilogy. And since I did enjoy the movie and I'm curious about it, I picked it up and start reading. Until now, it's quite interesting and manage to keep my attention, and I think I might just continue reading to the end. Well, I know what will eventually happen since I was spoiled about it, still it'll be nice to read the book and find out again how did it happen. And I think I like the portrayal of Lyra here better than the movie.
Last book read: Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman (I don't remember how many time I've re-read the book, and I just love it!!)

Title: Evening Class
Author: Maeve Binchy
Current page #: Just finished.
Opinion thus far: I've read it before, it's one of my favorite books. Binchy is great with character development, so you honestly feel as though you know her characters. You feel their happiness, you feel their pain. Also, Binchy is Irish, and she described the environment so vividly, you feel as though you are there. She's great, one of my all-time favorite authors.

Title: Wicked. Memories of a wicked witch
Author: Gregory Maguire
Current page number : 329
Opinion thus far : Probably the best book I've read in ages and I would dare to say it will become my favourite of all time. It portrays, in a revisionist manner, the life of a character from The Wizard of Oz , The Wicked With of The West, here known with the name of Elphaba. What in the original book was a simply evil character with a secondary role is here a really developed, deep, sympathetic and sometimes even charming and lovely character. The story is very solid and brilliantly interleaved with the original plot. The writing style is the one of a master and it gives an adult perspective of a classic book for children.

I seriously encourage everyone to take a look at it.

Title: Endless Universe: Beyond the Big Bang
Authors: Paul J. Steinhardt and Neil Turok.
Current Page: 70
These two physicists put forth an alternative modifying the Big Bang theory, that of an endless cyclic universe, that is very compelling and creating a lot of talk. A summation is here- The Endless Universe: Introduction to the Cyclic Universe (ActionBioscience)

Other scientists who have played with the idea that I've read about seem to come to the conclusion that entropy increasing makes it impossible, but these two seem to have found the way around it; in their model, entropy does not build up.

I've always been kind of fascinated by some cultures' cyclic models of existence, Nietzsche's Eternal Return/Recurrence, ect., so this is pretty interesting for me. Though, an endlessly repeating cycle might not necessitate the Eternal Return (I saw a mathematical model which seemed to show that a finite number of particles in an infinite cycle would not necessarily have to repeat in placement). Still, it is an interesting concept to think about.

Title: Lost and Found
Author: Ummm...
Current page number : Just finished.
Opinion thus far : A really beautiful book about a mother and daughter who go on an Amazing Race-esque show to try and repair their broken relationship. You also get inside of 4 other characters heads, each loveable and sad in their own way. I definitely recommend it.

Title: The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy (Book 1)
Author: Douglas Adams
Current page number: I'm reading on my Galaxy Tab, and in reading view, it doesn't show page numbers... But I'm near the beginning.
Opinion thus far: I've already read this book several times and am just re-reading it for funzies. It's a brilliantly written piece (ignore the movie, it was rubbish), full of everything you could want in a book - action, adventure, romance - all with a hilarious twist. Definitely recommended to all!

Last book finished: And Eternity by Piers Anthony (HATED IT)

^ Hey I'm reading that too, though as you can see I'm not that far yet.

Title: Game of Thrones
Author: George R. R. Martin
Current page number: 82
Opinion thus far: Well I'm only like a tenth of the way through, but so far I'm think it's great. I've also been keeping up with the TV series, which I can't get enough of. A friend of mine says it's been very faithful to the books so far (with minor exceptions), so I'm assuming I will be extremely satisfied with it.
