Personally, I am a HUGE novel fan. I love to WRITE poetry...but not so much read others happy.gif

I read novel after novel after novelllll. I'm mostly into historical fiction (love the Tudors) but lately I've been getting into more "trippy" type of books that are about modern day.

I don't like short stories at all although I do enjoy writing them and forcing others to read laugh.gif

So what do you guys like? Be specific! Talk about styles, any authors that have to do with that style, etc.

I enjoy reading a lot, and I've written quite a few stories over the years. Literature is also one of my favourite subjects at school.

However, being the avid actor I am, I most enjoy literature because of the plays we study in Drama class. The Crucible, Henry V, Hamlet, Les Miserables, ect. are some of my favourites.

It's very early in the morning here, and I can't quite recall any specific authors right now. I'll probably add some when I wake up a little.

Fantasy novels most of the time. I could have read over 40 or 50 novels in my life.

Other than that, I also read historic novels, ocassionaly thrillers and that.

Like Michiko, I'm a novel person

I like most novels, fantasy and horror books. The horror ones have good depth, fantasy ones are imaginitive, and the novels are just excellent.

I love books, all books especially new books *dreams of books*

Ok seriously ive read tons, well over 200 novels and if I love an author i'll tend to buy every book they write, my favs being:

Fantasy: Terry Pratchett, Garth Nix, Anne McCaffrey (although she also classes herself as sci-fi).
Horror: Stephen King, Thomas Harris,
Drama: Nicholas Evans,
Old Lit: Jane Austin,

OMG there's so many more will have to update after ive looked through my bookcase. tongue.gif

I prefer non-fiction books, autobiographies, and fiction books that seem realistic, but are fiction since it never happened.

I prefer non-fiction as well, though I don't mind reading a good fiction book occasionally.

I mainly read political theory and history, namely communist.

EDIT: Currently reading: Social Anarchism or Lifestyle Anarchism by Murray Bookchin.

I love reading wayyyy too much. It's all I ever do sometimes. Such a nice way to escape from the world and indulge yourself. ANYWAY.

I'm mostly into historical romance. Phillipa Gregory is an amazing author when it comes to that.

Fantasy and thrillers are other huge categories I'm deeply interested in. Dan Brown is absolutely fantastic at writing thrillers -- he's only written three books (and I have em all) but if he writes any more, he can guarantee my buying them!

I'm really not too picky on books though -- if it's good, it's good, no matter the genre or style.

Though, I agree with you Michiko -- I don't like reading short stories either. It's just so... Short! DD: It leaves me wondering if it could've been taken further, changed around... Just because there's so little boundaries for it. Of course, that's just my opinion.

Poetry can be good or bad. Depends on the subject matter and how it's written, but I've never been too into it.

i have a secret stash of paranormal romance books. ph34r.gif

xD

i basically love all kinds of books -- the best ones are the ones that can make me laugh. the only kind that i don't really enjoy are mysteries..i find them boring. love science-fiction too (resident evil novels are amazing imo), and the fantasy novels written by terry pratchett are awesome too.

My favorite is classical literature, or historical. I also like fantasy if it's welll written. Most fantasy isn't, because it's written for the ideas with little thought toward the style.

I really enjoy novels too. Public Libraries=Heaven. I go at least once a week. No joke. I like to write poetry, too, but I also hate to read others. I'm really into non-fiction lately. I'm a bit of a history buff...so my history thirst is insatiable.
