Only a matter of time before someone made this thread.

So who else reads the Halo novels here? I'm currently about 200 pages into First Strike, I'd say it's a fair bit more enjoyable than The Flood, which frankly bored me after a while.

Has anyone read Ghosts of Onyx yet? Thoughts?

I had no idea they were releasing novels either.
It makes me think why they didn't include a really extensive plot in the game. Are the books really that good? Or, do you think only a hardcore fan of Halo would enjoy them?

I'd definatly reccomend them to anyone, Halo fan or not. Currently there's 4 out

The Fall of Reach - Explains how the spartans were abducted, trained and physically alterd untill there defeat at Reach and the beginning of the first game. Also explains how the humans first came into contact with the covenant
The Flood - Takes place throughout the Halo going into a much more detailed explanation of what happend to Keyes, the other marines who survived the crash and a Grunt/Elite sidestory that took place.
First Strike - The one I'm reading now. Explains how the cheif made it back to Earth, and how a hanfull of other Marines and people thought to be dead had survived.
Ghosts of Onyx - Not sure what happens myself tongue.gif - takes place between the end of Halo 2 and start of Halo 3

They're incredibly detailed, going into the spartans relationships and the harshness of there upringing aswell as generally going into a whole lot more detail about the background of the Halo trilogy.
