hope this is in the right place

what if your a fairly new member, and when you find a topic through search, and its ove a month old, and you want to reply what can you do?? i almost replied to one and i realized it was over a month old but i want to reply. dcan i just post a new same topic??

i did once reply to an old one, and i basically got ripped a new one so thats why im asking. i don't understand the reasoning for only 1 month for replying?

I've also seen alot of people getong ripped for this and the same thing happened to me recently. I wish some of the older members in these forums would understand that some of us are new to the games and/or the forum and even though the topic is old to you all its relevant to where we are at in the game. I'd like to think we'd be encouraged to reply to any topic.

This is just me, but if a member's post is not worthwhile and it doesn't meet a certain chronological criteria, then it is not allowed.

However, you could always post politely and say you're aware of the topic bump, that's always appreciated.

Is there no way to set the database to lock a topic once it's reached a certain age? That would prevent anyone from posting in an old thread, solving the problem and making it so newbies can make mistakes without being reamed for them.

Just a thought.

And yes, I'm aware that this topic is almost 1.5 months old. I thought my question relevant and decided it was worth asking.
