I'm rewatching Evangelion these days, but I never watched the movie (didn't know there was an alternate ending at the time). So did you watch it? Did you like it? Is it better than the normal ending?
Thanks in advance (and please mark spoilers!). smile.gif

Naturally, I didn't vote myself. wink.gif

I thought that End of Evangelion was a better ending 'cause it made a whole of a lot more sense the the TV ending to me. That and when you present the ending of a TV series in masterful movie it's hard not to like it more.

It was great. Creepy but great.

I felt something when I watched it. <3

How come I didn't see this thread? xD

I loved End of Evangelion. Like other members have posted, I also prefer it to the TV ending. Its very surreal, and the collapse of things reminded me of Akira.

***CAUTION: Members who have not seen the movie itself, be wary as a certain section within this post has a spoiler. Avoid reading at all costs if this is of concern***

It was definitely more realised than the last two episodes, and for that it's in my favor than that of the aformentioned episodes which tried to conclude everything with bizarre montages. I love the animation in EoE also, it's very fluent and cohesive with a nice blend of tones to boot. The only problem with EoE is that it kinda felt off in conjunction with the series. I can't explain why exactly, but it just felt like it was a completely seperate entity from the series itself. For one, the whole Misato and Shinji's scene of intimacy was kind of shocking and somewhat out of context (either that or I COMPLETELY missed something integral with the narrative and chemistry of those characters). I found it to be entirely misleading through out the Eva series in that regard. It seems that all in all, Evangelion is somewhat of a mess as a whole, but it was deffinately a pleasant experience none the less wink.gif .

Having said that, it's most likely the reasons I've stated above that Anno and Tsurumaki are back to the drawing boards on re-creating the whole series; Rebuild Of Evangelion. It seems to me (and I believe Anno has stated this before) that the reason RoE is in existence is because there were many faults in the original series itself (kind of a given there) and that re-embelishing this project and seeing to it what was originally envisioned in the first place is the upmost priority and the sole reason behind this "remake". Which I'm very excited about. Let's just hope the original vision finally materializes and we experience what was intended to be the true Evangelion.

*SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!*

I just finished watching EoE a few seconds ago biggrin.gif

I really enjoyed it, the ending was great although I thought it was harder to understand than the TV one. I agree that the Misato/Shinji scene was very odd. Telling him that they would do "the rest" when he got back? So she is going to do it with a little kid or something? Very odd...and not just in the way that the rest of Evangelion was odd.

I'm so glad I watched the rest of these, what a great series. It seemed longer than 26 episodes IMHO.

Now I'm gonna finish off Cowboy Bebop, only got a little bit left to go in that. Any suggestions for further series?

So far I've watched Bleach (up to present), Yu Yu Hakusho (all), Death Note (all), Elfen Lied (only up to 6, should I finish?) + this and cowboy.

of course not, it's pretty clear actually, i'm not sure what you're talking about tongue.gif

see, she knew she was going to die, because the shot she received was pretty fatal, so she just decided to do the only thing she could to maybe ....just maybe raise his spirits, which was a kiss

soon after, of course, she dies ... :/

Yeah, I realized that as soon as she slumped over. I don't really think that Shinji was so helped out by the kiss though. She had been a quasi-motherly figure toward him for the entire series, and then she comes on to him all of a sudden. That would disturb me more than motivate me.

That one scene just made me cringe a little bit i guess. I dunno...
