As I prophetically stated a mere 24 hours ago, SE is beginning to turn the promotional wheel on FFXIII. Some new story info was released to further clarify the games storyline:

"The cocoon's government is using crystals with the power to change man's destiny to force those on Pulse to work against their will. In turn, the citizens of Pulse are rebelling. Their force is lead by the only confirmed character so far who goes by the codename "Lightning". Apparently the player won't know if he's on Lightning's side or not until a certain point in the game."

Another bit of information which was previously announced by director Toriyama is now confirmed by PSW: A new split-screen feature that will build upon the Active Time Event by allowing the player to simultaneously view what is happening to different characters at any different time and location.

Also, for those who wanted proof: SE's John Yamamoto says they are aiming for a simultaneous wordwide release.

Last but not least, for those who hate FFXII: The real-time/ATB fusion system of FFXII will be retained for FFXIII but will be kicked up a few notches.

I do not know if this is new. But it seems we will not be playing as Lightning the first part of the game. I'm very interested in the split screen mode. It reminds me of FF IX (love that game) with the ATE, I hope it's something like that. Or maybe it's like the TV show 24?

A worldwide release, wow. That won't happen. I hope it does, but we know SE.

We will have modified FF XII battles with faster speed, I like. I wonder if this means that we will have gambits again?

Yeah, ATE's rock. I saw this on another site, but not the worldwide release!

Awesome. Thanx. If that happens I'll be so happy.

I doubt it will though.

Well, all the trailers so far have all been in English writing (the battle screen in XIII, and when the writing comes up in Versus! We can all but hope xD )

Anyway, this split screen stuff sounds good, and if it's like 24 that would be great!

I can see a worldwide release happening, in the middle of 2009 that is. xD There are so many games coming out for the PS3 this year, that they will have to push it back to 2009. With that much more time under the belt, they can localize the game for different territories and release world-wide. Which would be awesome, because I hate waiting forever for a Final Fantasy game, ya heard. Anyways, everything about this game is going to be amazing, I just know it. I can't wait.

The closer it is to FFXII (gameplay wise) the better. That game had the best RPG battle system ever created.

I don't like this news. I prefer to view the events of the different characters separately, like in FFIX.

This is good news though, but like Sabin and steiner I doubt it'll happen.

I agree, as long as we do not have to wait 1 year I'm fine. I can live with six months.

@NP: I also hope the events are shown seperately like FF IX. I'd probably miss half of the stuff going on onscreen. We'll have to wait and see how SE will implement this.

Edit- There will be a total of 6 games. This does not sound good. I hope they don't f--k things up. We have 3 confirmed projects. I'm betting we'll see a movie. Wonder what the other to projects are.

But it seems we will not be playing as Lightning the first part of the game.

How so? Just because she leads an army?

The split screen was in FFXII, even though it was only used once, and in Lost Odyssey. It will probably be like that.

EDIT: BTW, JP's mag Dengeki have announced in this month's issue that they will have new FFXIII info next month.

"Apparently the player won't know if he's on Lightning's side or not until a certain point in the game."

^That is why. I don't know what it means. Maybe we start out as another character and then she joins the party. I really don't know what they mean.

"He" refers to Mr.33cm. Toriyama had stated the exact same about him some time ago.

It was a poorly written detail by the part of the magazine's writers.

I've heard it could be a coverage of JumpFesta, I hope there are new screens. We really need to see ONE new character.

After I have seen 3 playable characters in this game, I'm happy.

It looks as though Famitsu magazine are also going to have some new Final Fantasy XIII information in their next issue releasing on the 25th. Kanae says that they should both have a large article on it and hopefully it'll be on the cover.

~http://finalfantasy-xiii.net/

I hope this means that SE is about to start to hype the game.

Oh my. I want to get excited, but then I don't want to be disappointed. Being on the cover will be a good thing, that means that it's going to be an importance to that issue. Hopefully, Jump Festa information is in it, like Sabin said. *crosses fingers*

Let's see:
- Dengeki's next issue will have a FFXIII preview article;
- Famitsu will have a FFXIII preview article on day 25th;
- EGM was supposed to have a FFXIII preview article NOW, but they delayed it for the next issue;

If all the previews happen to be based on the same new information that is about to be revealed, this would be the second time SE would hype a product in both JP and western mags at the same time. They have only done that before with... The Last Remnant.

i hope that the main character actually has a good reason to be tha main character.

i also prefer the battle system to ffx because you can fight more monsters and see what items you get.
