The Sphere Grid is better. I am currently in the middle of beefing up my FFX characters - up to 37,000HP. You can't do that with normal leveling up. It takes a long time though. Those HP spheres aren't easy to come across.

I prefer leveling up, gives you something to work towards to. Even if FFXII's leveling up was absolutely cruel and took forever.

I prefere when it's possible to choose what kind of style our Heros should fight. For instance FFX sphere grid allowed me to make Yuna a Dark Mage while Tidus was White Mage and Melee. That gives better control of the game. And you can have cool characters with cool skills. FFXII is also pretty good because although you level up normally, you can choose what kind of weapon your heros should use. In FFX Yuna only got staffs and so on, but in FFXII everybody could use a bow or a gun.

Normal leveling up, like old school Final Fantasy 4th's.

It is a more complex license board grid for FFX.

I like both. I prefer the normal level up system though, because I feel it helps you to realize how far your characters have come. And sometimes it helps you to know if you're ready to fight in a certain area/a certain boss.

Ok, I botched the english language there.

I like both. I like how the Sphere Grid gave me a visual of how my characters were coming a long. The only leveling up I don't like is in FF 12. It takes FOREVER.[b]

I think that both systems are great. I would prefer something that mixed the two equally. Like maybe a level up system that made it possible for you to acess more areas of the sphere grid. So getting experience points to raise your level, which would increase your potential growth. And having the sphere grid to reflect where your potential lies and learning abilities and status boosts from that. I personally dont think that the sphere grid was big enough and I think that a lot of the gates where too easy to get through. But it was a great system! I think they should consider bringing it in again with some revamps that make it a little more difficult for you to make one of your fighters a black mage.

Over all though...I liked the sphere grid system. It gave a nice visual for how your progression has been made. With levels...its just numbers....very boring. But leveling up is classic...and still just as good as Sphere grid.

Like other guy said, its almost like a huge lisence board. Only instead, you do not learn abilities in groups, you learn each ability separately. And you raise your stats...gradually. And using the sphere grid is the only way to raise your characters HP, STR, ect. Unlike FFXII...which gives you stat. bonuses. And in FFX you are stuck with the weapon your born with. So you cant learn new weapons. That is the basic jist. Oh...and the sphere grid is PRETTY! biggrin.gif
