My friend and I have a really good local computer place that will build and order any parts we need for real cheap. I just don't know where to start so I can give the guy at my computer place a starting point so he can get an estimate.

My friend wants this laptop to be able to run a certain MMORPG flawlessly (www.champions-online.com) but the game isn't going to come out until '09 so getting specs right now is next to an impossibility for that game. Is there a way to ensure that this laptop runs that MMORPG, if it has the parts that make a good gaming laptop? If so, what are those parts?

I also want a customized computer, not a gaming computer that I can buy like an XPS.

Thanks for your help on this matter. biggrin.gif

Ohhhh, I liked my new choice for an avatar and signature....

Party pooper...

Anyway, I meant specific parts like...Intel Core Two Duo, top notch graphics card, etc. I'm not sure which parts I should start off with to get my friend a nice laptop (I can get really good parts for really cheap at this local store so ordering from from a company like Dell/Alienware or getting a certain computer brand is out of the question for my friend).

My computer now is a beast of a computer that I got for a really good price (and I was looking at computer brands such as HP and the like but I found out that making your own or customizing your own is the way to go).

Basically, I'm not sure what a laptop can hold - I would recommend the stuff my computer has but I'm not sure if there are limitations between desktop to laptop.

well, you just have to look at what they have on their pages

but alienware's specs are high for any laptop, but the key for now is what Graphics card that he uses because it has to support DirectX 10 which is a must if you want to have great quality graphics which they all have (as they are specifically designed for gaming), the processor can depend, but for most games anything in general over 2GHz that's a dual core will function alright, however, he could find various multicore systems if he wished

no, HP is shit mk

anyways, Alienware has a great rep with their customers and buyers, and are the ( ....i heard ) best computers for gamers by far because of their high end gaming setups, they are designed to game, not to mention for any other business such as video editing and photoshop

Check this website out:

http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest

It tells you if your computer can run a certain game or not.

My laptop is shit, and it can't run any game. sad.gif
